The world-famous Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo kicks off in less than two months. Established as the Houston Fat Stock Show in 1932, Houston’s premier event has become the world’s largest livestock show. While the first show drew an estimated crowd of 2,000 visitors during its five-day debut; it now regularly draws approximately 2.5 million visitors per year.

1. Downtown Rodeo Parade
Every February since 1938, Houston is transformed into a down-home celebration of Western heritage. This year’s parade, on February 29, will boast thousands of men & women on horseback mixing with decorative floats, and will be led by 2020 Grand Marshall, Houston Dash captain and soccer star, Kealia Ohai. The parade marks the beginning of Rodeo Houston.
2. World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest
Starting February 27 – 29, more than 250 teams, led by barbecue aficionados, will compete in the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest. The Rockin’ Bar-B-Que Saloon also features live and DJ music and all comers can savor complimentary sliced brisket with chips and beans at the Chuckwagon, and The Garden features some of the best up-and-coming and established artists in Texas.
3. Carnival rides & games
The kids will love any one of the several different Ferris Wheels, Rockin Rodeo, Surf Shack, Silly Seas, Monster Mash, Toon Town, German Funhouse, Clown Glasshouse, Toon Town and games aplenty!
4. Super Series
Enjoy this 19-day tournament-style competition (starting March 3rd – 22nd) that crowns an event champion in bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, team roping and women’s barrel racing. Each champion is awarded $50,000, plus previous round winnings, a custom-made saddle and belt buckle, as well as an invitation to compete at Rodeo Houston, the following year.
5. World Class Musical Performances Every Night
Each night, a musical superstar will take to the stage and belt out your favorite tunes. Weekdays, starting at around 8:45 p.m., performers begin and on weekends the entertainers take to the stage at approximately 3:45 p.m. Some of this year’s performers include: Keith Urban, Maren Morris, Willie Nelson, Becky G, Gwen Stefani, Brad Paisley, and more!
